A waypoint is a a quest reward that allows the player to enter the cave at a point deeper than the entrance, effectively allowing the player to skip ahead or avoid retracing steps each new day. As with the main entrance to the cave, in each waypoint the player will reach a point where they cannot return back to town, effectively forcing them to continue into the cave.

Ice Cave[ | ]

There is are two waypoints into the Ice Cave.

The Church[ | ]

The first waypoint is available as a quest reward from completing "Restoring the Faith." On completion, Borbalo will reveal a ladder in the back room of the church. The player can use this ladder to reach a platform and jump down to an entrance into the Ice Cave. The waypoint will take the player to either the third or fourth room in Ice Cave - the exact waypoint location is randomized each game.

Cecilia's House[ | ]

The second waypoint is available as a quest reward from completing "A Bowl of Water." On completion, either Rebeka or Janika will place The Water Bowl on a table. The player can interact with the bowl to teleport directly to Vid's grave. The grave spawns in a random location in one of the first four rooms of the Ice Cave (making it likely a worse option than the waypoint at the church). However, if the player has completed "Spirit Walk," they can use Vid's grave to immediately teleport to other graves (making it a more desirable option than the waypoint at the church).

Dark Cave[ | ]

There are two waypoints into the Dark Cave.

Cecilia's House[ | ]

The first waypoint is the cliff opening in the yard of Cecilia's house. This entrance is blocked off by a fence, and can only be reached by using the back door in Cecilia's house. The door is locked at the start of the game, but the key can be received from Robert by completing "Light in the Dark." The player can use the entrance to jump to a small light bridge and torch puzzle. There is a nearby oil barrel where the player can refuel their lantern. The waypoint will take the player to either the third or fourth room in the Dark Cave - the exact waypoint location is randomized each game.

Regardless of when or whether this waypoint has been opened, it will be closed at the completion of the Town Event "Cecilia's House is Burning Down." The player will not be able to enter the ruins of the house and, thus, not be able to reach the waypoint entrance.

Workshop Yard[ | ]

The second waypoint is dug by Dorottya and Katarina in the workshop yard. On completing the quest "What's Yours Is Mine," if Katarina is alive and the quest "A Brighter Tomorrow" has been completed, the player will automatically receive "Dark Digging". Completing this quest will open up one waypoint into the Dark Cave each day for five days after. That is, the first day after completing "What's Yours Is Mine," a waypoint will be available into the first room of the Dark Cave; on the next day, a waypoint will be opened into the second room of the Dark Cave; and so on until there is a waypoint into all five rooms.

In order to make an available waypoint in this quest permanently open, the player must clear out rubble inside the cave. When a waypoint becomes available, a large boulder will spawn in the Dark Cave at that waypoint's exit. The player needs to use the pickaxe to remove that boulder, and then the waypoint will be permanently available.

If both Dorottya and Katarina die before all five waypoints are made available, progress stops on the tunnel. In this way, it's possible that only a minimum of two entrances into the Dark Cave open through this quest (if Dorottya and Katarina die the two nights following completion of "What's Yours Is Mine").
